What's a Speed Rack Competition?
Speed Rack started in 2011 as a bartending contest for women only. The competition raises money for breast cancer organizations. It’s one of the most inspiring and thrilling contests for bartenders. Besides lots of spirits, shaking, and stirring, also there is a DJ. He is in charge of fun.
Let’s take a closer look. The event ticket price is $25, and 100% of it goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
The spectacle is only for women and has raised over $1,500,000 to support breast cancer research.
The Idea
The idea went out in times of working behind a bar. Ivy Mix worked at Lani Kai, while Lynette Marrero was a cocktail server at Flatiron Lounge. Both of them talked to Julie Reiner, and she agreed that the idea was brilliant.
What happened next? Ivy Mix and Lynnette Marrero partnered as co-founders. They reached out to sponsors, and the competition went international!
Not only this duo changed the view of women in the cocktail industry but also raised money for charities. In the end, they succeeded in both.
Candidates
Who can take part? Female bartenders across the globe. How to take part? First, candidates use the online application process to apply for the contest. Second, selected candidates compete in a qualifying round.
Who is in the finals? The best local competitors. Judges pick up winners and they receive an invitation to their country’s National Finals.
